Here on Substack! I read dQ earlier this year and still have so many thoughts about it but since nobody I personally know has read it I haven’t had many people to talk about it with so was looking what the people of the internet had to say about it!
as much as I want to laughed at Don Quixote delusion, I can’t deny the wisdom on some of his speeches… and you are right that’s what keeps me going on reading this book.
In this similar vein, highly recommend reading the manga One Piece. It looks like a goofy pirate story from the outside but has a lot of deep political and socio cultural meaning in it. Easily the best piece of media I've ever consumed
There’s not much fillers, the fillers aren’t even up to 120, and Luffy, if you give him a chance he could actually change your way of looking at him
Personally, luffy and eren taught me what freedom and liberation was-they did it in whatever way they thought was right. But then, they were the embodiments of it.. so Give One Piece a chance and I promise you,You won’t regret it.
I was about 600 chapters into the manga when I started reading don Quixote (my senior sem had us read it in full and write a thesis on it) and I found myself thinking about countless parallels, ESPECIALLY in the first part.
Obviously different stories but Cervantes and Oda both do a great job at displaying the beauty and sometimes the difficult of being a character who wants more in a world that wants to keep you in a box. Which I think any person can relate to
I'm not the best with words but this person is book youtuber who started One Piece a couple years ago and she perfectly sums up how I feel about this story, give it a listen if you can.
You’re a wonderful writer!
Thank you
Wonderful piece. Thank you
Glad you liked it

I have a few (if you look up the Recs tag). I'm going to do one soon on George Orwell.
Also just out of curiosity, where did you find this piece?

Thank you.
Also get out of Harvey ASAP. They suck. Happy to share some data you might find interesting to prove that

I want to love One Piece but I hate Luffy as a main character. Especially as a leading man. And there's so much filler.
Maybe the manga is better in this regard.
