this is helpful for writers of all worlds because it is honest, informative, and revelatory. especially appreciate the part about the importance of actually enjoying what you're writing about. it's a simple idea but it's easy to fall into writing about trending topics that can bore a writer to apathy. thanks Devansh!
One problem that is very common is that virtually every platform gives aggregate visitor numbers - but doesn't split them by type (e.g. C suite, or developer vs project manager). Even LinkedIn doesn't really do this.
That encourages spammyness.... so congratulations for ignoring that siren!
Much appreciate you sharing this, Devansh, such valuable experience. Your supervisor’s advice is gold; it’s exactly what I’d tell my younger self (and my kids someday).
And yikes, all those injuries… be kinder to yourself out there.

Well deserved congratulations. "I’d love to Majin Buu some of their essence into my writing." - A DBZ fan if I ever knew one :D
This is awesome. Congrats on the great work and keep it up!
Thanks for the mention Devansh! Have really enjoyed following your writing and so glad Substack brought us together.
I appreciate this so much! Great post! Can I ask - what's with the "Substack penalizes free publications" claim? Is this true? Do we know for sure? 😶
Great article - and thank you for what you do.
